• Represented BMO Nesbitt Burns, Stifel Nicolaus Canada Inc. and a syndicate of underwriters as joint bookrunners in connection with an $86 million “bought deal” private placement offering of common shares of GoGold Resources Inc.
• Represented National Bank Financial, and a syndicate of underwriters as co-bookrunners in connection with a $29 million “bought deal” private placement offering of common shares of AbraSilver Resource Corp.
• Represented Clarus Securities Inc. and PowerOne Capital Markets Limited as agent for Miata Metals on its “best efforts” brokered private placement offering for gross proceeds of $6,374,160.
• Represented Stifel Nicolaus Canada , Canaccord Genuity Corp. and Red Cloud Securities Inc. as agent for Atha Energy Corp. on its fully subscribed private placement offering for gross proceeds of $10,000,000.

A Previous Life: Professional Basketball Player

From 2017 to 2022, Ryan was a professional basketball player, playing in Spain, China, Portugal, Canada, and Uruguay. The skills that Ryan honed on the basketball court transfer directly to corporate boardrooms: teamwork, collaboration, and effective communication. He is now applying those same skills to solving clients’ problems in his chosen areas of law.

Playing basketball also equipped him with a unique perspective to managing high-pressure situations and fostering collaboration within diverse groups.

Equally important, Ryan brings a global perspective and cultural sensitivity to his law practice, enabling him to collaborate effectively with colleagues and clients from diverse backgrounds—thanks to his international basketball career.

During his basketball career, Ryan earned a number of awards including: Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) National Champion (2019); he won the USports National Basketball Champion in both 2016 and 2017; he was named the 2017 Ontario University Athletics (OUA) All-Star; he is a two-time Academic All Canadian; and many others.

When he is not representing clients, Ryan follows politics, sports, film, and music. He is also a keen student of history. His favourite activities include travel, hiking, and reading. When his time permits, he also likes to coach the next generation of basketball players.

Ryan speaks intermediate Spanish which he learned through four years of immersion in Spanish-speaking countries during his basketball career.
